Hi all - I recently picked up a 15' 981 Cgts with a spotty history. I'm curious on the perceived value as I don't think there is much to compare it to on the market.
Car is in great shape with new tires, brakes and oil. No leaks, squeaks, rattles or tears.
5 owners
57k mi on chassis
New engine and clutch installed at 42k mi by Porsche Dealer
Bumper replaced due to minor accident - (CPO after)
I wonder what went wrong with the original engine at 42k? Is that Agate Grey? The GTS cars are still pretty sought after, especially in MT6. I don't see that changing anytime soon especially with the way things are headed. Congrats on the car!

"Check engine light due to Ignition coils." Seems odd to me to replace an engine for that, but all I have to go by. Yes Agate Grey. Very happy with it so far thank you! Just hope I didn't overpay!
Well, we may all have that in common these days. For reference, I paid $65k for a 2016 Cayman S MT6 with 7k miles last summer. My car is fairly bare in the options department which appealed to me since I wanted to avoid a few things.

Doesn't seem too bad given inflated dollar for a basically new one!
I have no idea how you'd fare if you were to try to sell it but I'd say 54k for a mechanically well-sorted GTS with a new engine is pretty good. Especially if you intend to keep it as a car you drive a ton.

Thanks. That was my thinking as well. Short of going back in time and getting it new, it was the next best thing. It's shocking to me how close I would have spec'd it. Mine is Guards Red with black leather. Original MSRP was around $68k so I may well have paid more than the original owner. I'm the third owner.
At 54k I would be happy assuming you plan on keeping the car for a long time. I think it may be difficult to sell just given the history but as long as you are enjoying it and are aware of that risk down the road I think thats fair.

Its a driver and not a garage queen. Great not being worried about scratches or dings a whole lot.

Glad you think so. Very hard to know the value. Seems to be worth more for someone looking for a driver and less for someone looking for a pristine example.

Red holds value well in my eyes. Thats 88k in 2023 dollars!

Yeah I know it would be tough to sell, but not planning on it short term. I saw it as a 15k mile GTS for 20% off, but not sure if I was wrong to think so.
I think you did great on that car. I was going to say if you listed it today I would personally put it up for $60k (slightly higher mileage even though the engine is newer). I believe listing it there you'd get offers close to asking but just keep it and drive it, enjoy it!
