Default Connections for Battery :charger"

Where have you connected the leads for your Battey Maintainer for a permanent connection?

I do not want to run the negative across the frunk, is there a bolt that is closer to the positive side of the battery that can be used?

See post #19 in the above link. I circled where I used the mounting bolt on the firewall for the wipers that is close to the negative battery terminal. I sanded paint off a small area on the firewall for a good ground.

Default Fender bolt

Indeed, there is a convenient bolt to use as a ground for a battery maintainer. With the frunk lid open, if you carefully unclip and lift the rubbery trim nearest the windshield, you will reveal a beautiful fender bolt hiding under there! I use the Porsche-branded CTEK with the lighter plug. I installed an Amazon-sourced lighter socket (with weatherproof cap) in the corner of the cowl, tucking it between the frunk lid hinge and fender when not in use. When I want to connect to the maintainer, I fish the socket out and lay it on the windshield. After years of doing the plug-in and unplug lighter socket dance in my 986, with my 981 I wanted to connect and disconnect from outside the car, with the car locked or unlocked. Works with a minimum of fuss. I'm old, cranky, and retired now, I like things to be easy.
