Iphone volume shut off

I wanted to watch and listen to some Porsche Channel YouTube videos on my Iphone about configuring the settings on my new-to-me 981CS, which I could do in my living room or garage, but when I sat in the car and turned on the car key while watching one of the videos, the Iphone went silent. If I removed the key from the ignition, the volume on my IPhone would come back on.
If someone can understand for me what happened, I'd appreciate it. And if someone can explain a solution or work-around for my issue, I'd appreciate that too.
Thanks in advance.

I'm assuming you have your iPhone paired to the car via bluetooth. So when you turn the key in the car, the PCM turns on and the iPhone connects to it. The audio is then going through the PCM, but since you don't have BT-AUX selected as the input, you can't hear anything. You can either disable bluetooth on your phone, or switch the input on your PCM to BT-AUX to get audio through the car's speakers.
