As Porsche didn’t provide jacking pucks in my Cayman, do they presume repair facilities will necessarily have them at hand? Could one simply carry 4 hockey pucks in the car to act as jacking pucks-a common approach in the Corvette community.

I have used hockey pucks for years on all my vehicles including my Boxster.

For 2 post lifts, I just line up the hockey pucks with the lifting points under the car and lift away. Never had any issues with that. The locking type that you can find here by a rennlist member or from other online sellers will just make it more conveninet by locking in place.

Amazon has a set of four proper lift pucks with the little nubbin that inserts into the hole on the chassis that I have been using for years
They twist and lock into place on the car, and a set of four is less than $35

Just lay them on the lift pad and slowly raise it until it buts up against the vehicle. Then just lift it up. No way they will move with the weight of the vehicle on them.
With all the money I put out over the years for my boys to play hockey, it's nice to get a little payback...haha!
