Default How to remove side intake duct

Think I have a leaf in the engine compartment side intake. Can hear it when engine compartment cooling fan runs. Easily popped off the intake trim. Nothing in the duct, so leaf or whatever must be on the cooling fan. Anybody removed the intake duct? The parts PDF Illustration: 801-090, shows a hex nut but there is not enough room to get to it.

To remove the air frame inlet (part 16 on 801-090) you have to remove part 1 on 801-090, referred to as "side member trim" on the parts diagram and "Door entry guard" in the service manual.

It may be easier to remove the engine bay fan, part 20 on 801-090. To do that you need to remove the rear underbody cover, and depending on what side, you may have to loosen the fuel line bracket and move the fuel line out of the way. From there you should be able to access the rubber grommets part 21 801-090. qty 4, disconnect the electrical connector, and pull downward to remove the fan.

DISCLAIMER: I'm not a mechanic. Only reading and paraphrasing from the Service Manual and Parts Diagrams.

Thanks. Hardly driving the car since its Winter. Hopefully it clears itself. Going to try and find a cheap led inspection light to see better inside and try to pull out the leaf.
