Default Boxster Emergency Rear Lid Relase

Can't get into rear trunk, and I have secretly stored my wife's Christmas gifts in there! Is there an emergency cable release or another way to open the rear trunk lid? Neither the button beside the seat nor the key fob are working. I hear clicking and lights flash, but lid will not pop open.

Many thanks in advance for any ideas.

was the package a little big for the trunk? Try pushing down on the lid as you press the button

Small bag of goodies, nothing large. I did however try this multiple times to no avail. I pulled control module under driver's seat and sprayed everything down with electrical contact cleaner. Will let that sit a while and see what happens when I plug everything back in.

All set. A little electrical contact cleaner and some dielectric grease on the rear BCM plug and all is well. Not sure if just removing plug and reconnecting did the trick, or if the cleaning helped, but I now have Christmas presents for my wife and I don't have to give the whole car to her as a gift........

Merry Christmas Everyone!

That's a new one for me. Did your control module get wet? Found this Youtube for a 987.

How to open the hatch/trunk if the rear control module is crispy on Porsche Cayman

That's the video that gave me the idea to look there. In Porsche's infinite wisdom they put the control module in the lowest point on the floor of a convertible. I suppose if you leave your window or top down during a rain storm, water is bound to find it's way in and around the module. Everything looked clean and dry on my car, but I can see how this could be a design flaw eventually affecting a number of cars.
