Default 255-40-18 on 981 front?

Putting on some 18s (downsizing from 20) and pondering tires sizes. PASM suspension. Titan 18x9 ET48 in front (vs stock 20x8 ET57).

Looking at 255-40-18 and 275-40-18 currently but want to be sure 255 won't rub in the front. If they do, I could go 245-40-18, but I'm trying to keep as close as possible to original tire diameter (stock are 26.5" overall, 245 would be 25.7 and 255 would be 26) and smaller delta to rear diameter (26.7"). Any input would be much appreciated.

I personally am running 265's on the front and there isn't any real interference. I am on 19's though, but as far as I'm aware 18's shouldn't be much different.

Just my two cents.

Too wide a tire for the rim. Too much movement and distortion. Bigger isn’t necessarily better.

I run 245 40 -18 Hankook RS4s for track on the front and 275 rear. As already mentioned I think I rejected 255 as too wide for the front rims.

Are you referring to the stock rims? As mentioned, I have aftermarket 18x9 (1" wider than factory with an extra +9 offset).

My aftermarket front rims are 8.5. I'd be interested to hear anyone running 255s on the track on a 981.

I'm running 255/35R19 front and 275/35R19 rear tires on 19x8.5 et50 front and 19x10 et40 rear wheels on my X73 equipped car. The first few days were with a Porsche spec alignment and the last 5 with 2 degrees negative camber up front. The tires are currently Bridgestone RE71R and I have 9 HPDE days on these tires. No issues whatsoever.
