Default Magnetic plugs for gearbox or engine oil pan?

I have a LN Engineering magnetic drain plug, need to decide if there’s any value to installing the drain plug in the gearbox or engine oil pan. Will the wear parts be picked up by the magnet? I’m getting ready to change the gearbox oil but have a little time before I change the engine oil.

I have one in my oil pan for the hell of it ...That's where I would put it unless you have presumably a manual car and you grind shifts ? any microscopic wear parts should end up in your oil filter anyway and not on your magnetic drain plug .

If you have any larger metal debris on your drain plug you have other $$$ serious issues.

Yes it's a manual. You don't need to grind shifts to have wear in the gearbox.
