Hey, my name is Kevin, I'm located in Cincinnati, OH, USA, and I'm the proud owner of my first Porsche: a 2016 Cayman S.

I've been lurking around rennlist since the Spring when I started seriously looking for a Cayman to buy. I looked at, and drove, a bunch of cars since then; everything from a stripped-down 2006 Base 6-speed to a 2019 S with PDK and loads of whistles and bells, and the one I liked the best was a loaded 2015 S. But that deal fell through...

Then, about 10 days ago, I saw this beautiful 2016 S at a little hole in the wall dealer over by Indianapolis; I pinged the dealer, found out the car was still available, and drove over there Saturday to look at it in person and take it for a spin. It was love at first sight, and as soon as I put it in Sport Plus on a twisty back country road and cut loose, it was all over except the details.

Made a deal on the spot and drove it home Saturday night. What a great day!

Here's a shot from the listing (I haven't had time to clean it up from the bugs and the road dust):

Congrats. DD, weekender or track days? Looks like the third radiator has been added. Doubt you will be driving daily during the winter so unless you already have one invest in a CTEK or equivalent battery maintainer. You don't want to find the emergency frunk release under the left fender liner the hard way or the frunk jump.

Check the date code on the battery (and tires).

If you are a DIYer lots of good YouTube on maintenance which will save you a ton of money. Find a good Indy with a PIWIS.

FCP Euro for parts since they have a 100% warranty. Harbor Freight for a aluminum jack, torque wrench, etc., but not floor jacks.

Don't think so, the front looks identical to mine and I don't have a 3rd radiator.

Thanks - appreciate all the tips!

I'm planning to daily drive it through the winter, but a) I've been working from home since last March, so "daily" is very elastic, b) winters here are usually quite mild (3" of snow is a lot here), and c) if worse comes to worst, I can always take the wife's Tesla S, as long as she doesn't have to be in the office that day, too.

I have no track experience, but PCA runs HPDE events at Mid-Ohio a couple of times a year, and I'll probably do one or more of those.

The car came with an OEM trickle charger, so in case my plan re: winter driving changes, I'm all set there.

I used to do all my own maintenance in my younger days, but pretty much stopped after my first GTI; the engine bays just got too crowded after that for me to make much sense of. But I may try to do some of my own maintenance again...

I'm guessing that by "Indy with a PIWIS" you mean an independent garage that specializes in Porsches, and I'm taking the car to one tomorrow to have a "pre purchase inspection" (even though, technically, it's a post-purchase inspection, but the car came with a 4-year/50,000 mile bumper-to-bumper warranty).

Congrats. Watch out for Caymanvirus - quick onset followed by rapid drain of bank account. Ha ha. Consider any or all: radiator screens, clear side markers, Sports Plus steering wheel (if do not already have paddles) and/or GTS tailights.

Best wishes.

LOL @ Caymanvirus - think I already have a touch.

Thanks for the suggestions (already have the sport design wheel with paddles, so there's at least one thing crossed off the list...) - hmm... GTS taillights...
