Charles

Batteries have been a common topic.
Even a youtube video.
In a nut shell, you do not need to go to the dealer.
Definitely a DIY

i also watch utube. but after 35 years and 6 porsches i always look for options and potential upgrades from multiple sources. seems my questions are too common for answers but still require a response from some. why waste time?

There's a wealth of info on battery replacements on Rennlist. Just do a search.
My recollection is that some had problems with settings after they replaced the battery, but it was no big deal doing resets.
I believed the dealer charged me $100 for installation which IMO was well worth it. I'm getting too old to be bending my body at weird angles to get the old battery out and the new one in. I probably saved myself a bad back for a couple of weeks.
