The 981 is the most beautiful car ever made. Ok, maybe I'm a bit biased, but still, yes.

It was dumping there last weekend. The chief driving instructor posted a video to his FB feed where his 981 GT4 Clubsport was aquaplaning towards the end of the front straight. Getting sideways in the rain at 115-120 is definitely a code brown moment.

Is this video public / shareable? I got up to around 100 and decided that was enough The car was reliably aquaplaning at the end of the front straight, and also twitchy going around T9 where a puddle at the apex turned into a stream flowing diagonally across the track as the day progressed. But I got to practice "straighten the wheel out as you cross the water, then go back to turning" over and over again, which was a good learning exercise.

Saturday afternoon was clear, and I got to ride along in someone's GT4 ClubSport. I've never felt roller coaster like G forces in a car before All in all it was an amazing weekend, had a lot of fun.

Are you coming to ORP in June? I signed up, let's see if I get a spot.

I looked for the video this morning but I couldn't find it. There is a Audi Club NW FB group that you should join, if you haven't already. Rain days are an excellent opportunity to practice car control, and living in the PNW you'll get lots of rain days. I was very happy when the Ridge installed the garages because that removed the only thing I hate about rain days: standing around in a rainy paddock. The other PNW tracks need to follow suit.

I was originally planning to go to ORP in June, but I injured my back at the Son of Quattrofest event in late March. In the last couple of weeks it has worsened to the point where I can barely stand up, let alone walk. So no fun for me until I am healthy again.

Oh no! That sounds horrible. 😩 I wish you a speedy recovery.

I'll be at the Ridge next week with PCA. Haven't driven it in the rain yet, and wouldn't want to do it without the main straight chicane either. Skipping ORP in June but I'll hopefully do Portland International Raceway in September.
