Question 981 boxster gts factory brakes swap

Hi.

I'm preparing for a project.

My vehicle is 2015 Boxster gts and I know that the genuine brake specification is front (4P, 330mm rotor) rear(2P, 300mm rotor).

I'd like to swap with 981 Spyder's brake.

(front 6P 340 mm, back 4P 330 mm)

If I move my original front brake to the rear, and install the new front brake for 981 Spyder, will it be fitted correctly?

It is to reduce the cost.

In this case, I only need to order the 981 spider front brake set.

Do you have any friends who have experience or know the exact specifications?

Have a nice day!!

No, you can't just move the front brake rotors to the rear. Different thickness of the rotor and diameter will require modification to the rear caliper, at a minimum, and the thickness change may cause other problems.

Also, I can tell you from experience that the OEM GTS (same as S) brake rotors on the 981 cars have PLENTY of braking power and resistance to fade with a good set of racing pads and high temp brake fluid installed. By increasing the rotor diameter on the 981 cars without a reduction in the vacuum boost assist, you will actually loose a bit of fine brake modulation feel and braking control with your foot on the brake pedal, assuming you are using treaded track tires like RE-71R. If you are running racing slicks and no-kidding all out racing or pushing the car to the limit all the way around the track, you could probably find benefit in the increased rotor diameter over stock. That's my $.02 worth. YMMV>

Plus the rear brake rotors have a hub designed for the parking brake. As the previous comment stated, it will not work moving front to the rear.

If you're going to go through the trouble and expense of swapping brake systems, find a set of 981 PCCBs. They have a snappier bite, lifetime rotor life, less unsprung weight, and no brake dust.
