Frunk won't open Battery good!
Hi
I am stuck.
Frunk does not open with either key fob or interior switch activation.
Rear trunk works with ether.
Battery is fine, car starts and runs.
I can hear the actuator cycle with either key fob or interior switch activation.
Tried to raise Frunk with large suction cups while cycling - no joy.
Tried pushing down - no joy.
Seems like there should be a spring pushing up on the lid but it lays flat.
Seems like the manual opener is not a good option.
Opinions, thoughts?
Thank you all, Howard

Try having someone put pressure on the hood or wiggle it around for lack of a better term while you are pulling the release. Also, if that fails the emergency release on my 987.2 was on the drivers side wheel well. Pull hard. Good luck

981 boxster frunk..FYI
well just discovered that a drained battery will not allow frunks to open.
there is no manual option.
there's a tiny pos terminal in fuse box.
you must jump this to open.
then you can get access to batt terminals under hood to start car.
off to a wedding four hours away and our bags are stuck, awaiting roadside.
both my trickle and jump cables are in my 993 which is not here.
had just enough juice to open the thing once and put our stuff in. womp.

Yes there is a manual option. You have to remove the inner wheel liner for the driver's side (USA market) front wheel. Not hard to remove if the wheel is out of the way. Behind the liner you will find a stainless steel cable, very small in diameter, that you can pull on to manually unlock the frunk.

but certainly not a convenient manual solution.

If it's a lithium and the circuit shut off (mine) it will open the circuit ie. voltage above threshold in a few minutes and then start.

i pushed the car halfway out the garage in N, put it in P and then lost ability to put it in N so it was stuck halfway out the door yet my short cables could not reach . a comedy of errors.

As an FYI, we do make some product to eliminate this type of thing. We understand that going into the fuse panel to get your frunk to open can be a but tough at times and you need to make sure that good ground and also a good bite on the red buss in the fuse panel to be able to trigger that latch.
So we make those mini jump starters that allow you to do that...... our brand is the MICRO-START... we have 4 different sizes... and we also won Consumer Reports "Best Rated Jump STarter" for our Microstart XP-10 unit. you can see them here... https://antigravitybatteries.com/pro.../micro-starts/
But the thing that is cools is we made a Harness kit (because I have this exact problem in my car) that attaches directly to your battery, then allows you to plug in your mini jump starter into this harness and energize you system so you can use the frunk switch, or jump start the car and not have to dink around trying to energize from the fuse box panel. Simply run the harness to under your hood... then when needed plug in your mini-jump starter and energize ,or jump start the car.
Yyou can see that harness here... and we make it so it can also fit other brands of Jump STarters... https://antigravitybatteries.com/pro...s-msa10b-long/
Last we make a Lightweight Lithium-Ion Starter Battery that has WIRELESS built in Jump Starting.... so not matter what you would NEVER be stranded by a dead battery or unable to open your frunk. Because this battery puts itself to sleep before going completely Dead.. .yet save enough reserve capacity to start your car again.... and it works WIRELESSLY... so you just press our keyfob... and start your car again.... or open your frunk.
You can see a video here.

Just fixed this one
Just had this on my new to me 987.1. Oddly it would open sometimes, mostly early when it was cold out. I tried the manual cable pull from the wheel well but that did not work (for a reason I found later).
There are two pieces that can be the issue, either the latch or the actuator. If you can get the frunk open, either are easy to replace. The actuator in question is the one on the drivers left side. There is another actuator low and to the drivers right that is for the inside the trunk hostage release.
I guessed wrong and bought a new latch. Maybe it needed that too. Anyway, had to get an actuator as well. Super easy to install, just pull back some carpet in the frunk and hook it up. Make sure the end of the manual pull cable is back by the plastic fitting near the actuator and not all the way up passed the bend. Both latch and actuator are available from Pelican.
Works great now.
