I recalled an old 2 thread posts on Planet9 about a broken spark plug on a 987 Cayman and his three month journey to remove it. The plugs were over due at 10 years and 56K miles and one broke at the hex leaving the threaded part of the plug in the head😟. He documented all the methods and attempts that ended with a custom drilling jig to remove the remainder of the plug. I in no way think this is a common occurrence but to be safe I follow the recommended 4 year 40K mile recommended and have already changed plugs twice in my 2014 CS and went ahead and installed new coils on my last change. Changing plugs is not a fun job but I can’t imagine dealing with a broken plug.

cabin filters
coolant
plugs, coils, and coil shields (I want to track it)

I want to start with a baseline on the maintenance
I did not see anything about the accessory/serpentine belt. It's a 6 year/60k mile item as well. PDK service is 6 year/60k miles too (you have a manual) but its fluid. I will wait until the next oil change in December 2024 to have the PDK serviced.

On the 981 the PDK service is now recommended at 12 years or 120,000 miles although personally I think that’s too long and I’m going to do mine this year at 10 years and 47K miles. I think the the PDK service in the 987 did call for a 6 year 60K service.

Woops, good catch. I bought the serpentine belt as well. I'm also changing that.

Agreed. I am close to the 12 year mark but its always about preventive maintenance. I am at 45k miles now and the service is not all that expensive. Should be at 47k to 50k when it is done.

The PDK service, changes the fluids or just does recalibration, that is available on the PIWIS 2?

It's the PDK clutch fluid and transmission oil.

Good timing for my finding this thread. I'm considering a 981 purchase now and wondered about having plugs changed. Thanks all.

You are going to replace a coil pack while you are doing a track day? Why not also bring a water pump or clutch plate?
