the workshop manual says i need to remove the drive shaft to drop the rear wheel carrier. has anyone been able to drop the wheel carrier enough to get the strut tower out without disconnecting the drive shaft? I don't have a way to get the 340 ftlbs torque on the driveshaft nut. i'm thinking as an alternative to remove all the bars and compress the spring to drop it out of the wheel well.
Also do i need to move the factory bumpstops and billows over to the coilover tower?

Remove the halfshafts from the transmission, leaving it attached bar outer wheel carrier. There are 6 or 8 Allen head bolts I believe. It doesn’t leak as everything is sealed.

Is this something you've done or just speculating? It does seem like a good idea. Just want to make sure it's not gonna make a huge mess haha

I have a 2014 CS. Need to change my signature and rarely post. I changed the base suspension to PSS10. We dropped the rear assemblies by releasing the axles from the onboard side at the gearbox. No mess as they’re sealed. Make sure to carefully release any electronic clips and also move the brake calipers out of the way.

Yep, you have to disconnect the half shafts and doing it at the transmission is easiest. You might have to repeatedly engage and reengage the parking brake to rotate and gain access to all of them. Keep an eye that your ebrake and wheel speed sensors, etc are connected when you have the ignition on to set the brake so you don't throw codes.
