What did you do with your 981 today?

I'm changing my oil right now and wheel waxing my wheel barrels while I'm waiting for all the oil to drain. That way they will be easier to keep clean in the future.

Lost the Ebrake for now but Club sport brakes are a game changer especially with the double sheer uprights. A little noisy but brakes that never fade and 18" wheels. significant weight savings per corner.

I swapped out my sport steering wheel with the newer style one. I liked the design of the sport wheel that I had, but the airbag just looked too big in my opinion.

Ok, so you made me look. Wasn’t sure which one I had so went out to the garage. I have the one in the lower pic, but never changed it. I assume that’s the one you switched to. Were there diff steering wheels offered across the 981 gen?

Yes, my new one is in the lower photo. I'm not sure what year they changed the steering wheel. I had assumed that they didn't go to the newer design until the 718, but I could be wrong. My CS is a 2014. I know they had a standard and a sport wheel. I had the nicer sport wheel.

Mine is a ‘16 and has the newer one so they must have changed within the generation.
nice job on yours. Looks great. Did you disconnect the battery for the swap? I did some work on the sport steering wheel I have on another fun car and gots all kinds of forum warning advice in advance to disconnect the battery first to avoid any unintended airbag deployment. Don’t know if it applies to Porsche also but thought I’d throw it out there just in case.

I have also seen all the warnings about disconnecting the battery on the Porsches. I did not disconnect it. I can't imagine anything that could make the airbag go off while the car is sitting still with the power off. I think it is more of a fear of the unknow/ why take a change thing that people do it and warn others about it.
The swap took less than 5 minutes to do. But I did have to get a M12 bit (triple square spline), which I was surprised to be able to find at the local parts store.

The Spyder and GT4 got that steering wheel but none of the other 981 Caymans/Boxsters did as far as I know.

Not necessarily "today" but over the past 6 weeks: X73 Suspension, Rennline 12mm rear and 7mm front spacers, carbon fiber mirror cap, carbon fiber intake cap, have Turbonite emblem arriving in a week.
After seeing the rear shot, I need to polish those tail lights.

Went to the Autocross season opener with the Ohio Valley Region PCA. We almost got rained out (a big thunderstorm rolled in during the first run group's first run), but we waited it out and finished on a very wet course.
I came in second in my class. The guy who won the class did his best time in that first run before the rain, but I'm sure he would've beaten me even if I'd had a chance to run before the rain soaked the course; he's really good (he was 3rd overall).

Hosted our first cars and coffee of the year. 30 cars showed up. Not too bad for our small town of 25,000. This is our third year. I’m hoping to get it up to about 50+ cars each meet.
