Thus the heat steering wheel and seats option. Besides the salt I'd worry about ground clearance

Do you mean the moisture can be an issue if you put a cover on it, or do you mean you can use the cover but keep an eye out for moisture issues underneath? I’m planning on getting the Porsche indoor car cover which I’m told breathes well.

what do you mean by that? Are you saying you’d want the car off the ground (i.e. on jack stands maybe?).

I love my CoverCraft Form Fit interior cover. I bought one a few months back. It's like a soft, thick sweatshirt for your car.

No driving in the snow and hitting ice chunks. Don't put the car on jacks stands. Extends the shocks and unnecessarily exposed the shaft to moisture.

Your good. Even if advertised as breathable many outer covers trap the moisture inside giving your car a moisture sauna.

Can someone educate me on why a car cover is needed? The car is going to get a nice wash in the spring anyway. Besides, covering it means you can’t just sit in it for no good reason during the winter.

Also another question: is it bad for the tires to drive the car in the winter (-10 to -20C)? The tires are P Zero’s. I heard the rubber can get hard and brittle, and you could actually crack them or something. I wasn’t sure if that’s true or myth.

My climate in NW PA is very much like yours in Toronto, but with more snow. I store two cars (a BS and 350z) each winter in an unheated space as part of a larger warehouse. Frankly over the months, dust settles on the cars and covers are needed. However, if I had space in my own garage, I wouldn't bother. As for cold affecting tires, it does not destroy them, but they handle very poorly and even a dusting of snow makes for a deadly ride on a Porsche's wider tires. For this reason dedicated winter tires are often narrower and use a different compound that keeps them supple and soft in extreme cold.

I cover to keep the dust off and protect in case it’s accidentally bumped. Having a new heated garage built. I will be storing the BGTS on a hoist, it will be covered. Some info on summer tires in the cold: https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tiret...jsp?techid=273.

I have spotlights that use to keep the garage warm. With high tech lights there is no heat now.

I’m going to put at least one bulb that gives off heat. Just a little heat will keep the garage warmer.

Summer only tire should not be driven in temps below 50 degrees ambient.

Added a 250 watt IR spotlight
regular spotlights now don't make any heat. It appears I don't need the slider switch on a very high setting to get enough heat.

Must keep the Jeep Grand Cherokee and 987 Boxster S nice and cozy in the winter. I won't drive the Porsche when there is salt on the roads.

LOL. In my case they are pretty similar. They are washed with the same regularity. Close to never.
In the 981 series, the feed from trickle charger should be attached to chassis ground, not the negative terminal of the battery. In the 981 series, there is a labelled chassis ground post on the right of the front compartment (right as you face the vehicle from the front) that should be used. In the 981 series, there is a voltage regulator that's part of the clamp that attaches to the negative terminal of the battery and can be damaged if a charger is directly attached to it. Can also be damaged if a jump start is attempted by directly attaching to pos and neg battery terminals. I'm not sure if this is the case for 986 and 987 series vehicles.

And yes, it did happen to me.....
