Dead Radiator Cooling Fan - 981
Hello all. Just documenting this. My wife hopped in her 981 Boxster S Monday morning and drove all of two miles when she got a warning on her PCM that read "Overheating Device Shutting Down in 14s". Not ideal. She had the option to press "OK" and clear the message but it would immediately come back. Interestingly...it was always 14 seconds.
We happen to live just about 10 minutes away from a Porsche dealer so she drove it in and after a quick diag, they came back with a dead (or technically, dying) drivers-side cooling fan. (Radiator). When she bought the car, she purchased an aftermarket warranty and good for her, it's covered...so almost no pocketbook damage. (There is a small deductible).
I myself have never seen that message in either of my 981's...so a first for me. Thus the sharing part of this.
