The 2-way Sport Seats Plus (heated and cooled) would be ideal, as you save both weight and head-room by avoiding the 18-way seat motors. I've tried them and they fit perfectly.
That makes sense. I don't think many boxster buyers (dealer stock) option the sport seats plus. The sport seats are 2 way or 14 way and the sport seats plus are 2 way or 18 way. The delta between 14 way and 18 way was quite significant -- more than $600 I thought -- or is today anyway.

Didn't think about the head room differences! Probably because I'm 5'9. Ha.

I was thinking more about the lower center of gravity. I have all my seats at the lowest setting possible and not because of lack of headroom. I like sitting IN the car instead of on TOP of it.

Is it true there is only 1 Ipanema Blue 981 Spyder in the world? I thought someone here on Rennlist had one. Or is this car and that car one and the same?

Nope, I have seen in it person and researched Rennlist. It is a beautiful car - a credit to the original owner and his PTS choice.

I wonder why it never showed up here for sale. The owner was fairly active on Rennlist.

The Carfax indicates it spent time for sale in Littleton, Colorado at an Infiniti dealer before heading to the independent dealer in Houston where it's presently available. Must have been shipped down there, though, as there are only about 150 more miles on it in Houston than there were in Colorado.

Milehigh981 was the owner. I recall seeing something about trading it at Mike Ward Infiniti. ?

Trading in a PTS Spyder, one of 22, to an Infiniti dealer without first posting here just seems so curious. Milehigh981’s last post was in June and it gave no indication.

In Colorado, when you trade in a vehicle, the value of the trade is deducted from the taxable value on the new (or used car) purchase. For example, if you're buying a 40k vehicle, and they will give you 10k for your trade, you only pay taxes on the difference, or 30k in this example. Within most city limits, tax rates are around 8%. So, continuing with this example, you'd have to sell it private party for 10.8k just to break even on the tax difference. That difference on a 981 Spyder would not be insignificant.

Events which need not go explained sometimes arise in life that cause us to part with things near and dear. There could be 100 reasons why someone sells something in the manner he/she does. Really none of our business. If he wanted to explain, he would have. The fact that he hasn't should be a clue he feels no need or desire to do so. Respect that and move on.

I’m certainly not owed nor looking for any explanations from the seller. But that doesn’t keep me from being curious.

And your comments suggest that you are speculating as to why the car was sold.... But thanks for keeping others in line...
