Default Tires

Was going to buy continental extreme dw on tire rack last night because the whole set for 17 in was like $386!! Decided to wait till morning, of course this morning the rear size I need was sold out!! Man I'm bummed.
So can you guys recommend a good set for this car? I was looking at Bridgestone so4 pole positions, $590 after rebate and great reviews.
Or does anyone have 2 new continental rears in our size you wanna sell?

Are these the right sizes for 17 for our car?

225/45 in front on 17s.

Edit..The rims have internal safety humps so the wheel should be indexed during installation/removal.

Oh yea, that's what I had down I mis-typed.
What's "indexed"

section 44-11 in the manual shows the pictures of how to mount the 17s with the internal asymmetrical humps (to keep the tire on the rim if you have rapid deflation.)

I will email the pixs to another machine if you don't have the wsm. its a pop blocker thing

Thanks, I have it, and will check it out.

Yikes, I'm not sure that any of my local Tire shops would have a clue about following that procedure.

It's the same thing with some tire pressure monitors that hang off the stem.

Seek out a shop with the newer road force hunter machine. Parking on a rug or an old anti fatigue mat lessens the miles to get out the flat spots from sitting.

I like nokians but you have to compromise to 245/40s in the tail for the Zline. There is a shop near VIR that is the importer for DOT spec Avons but I haven't inquired.

Just ordered my second set of RE11s (Bridgestone). They're relatively inexpensive and GREAT tires ... although since they're being replaced by the 71Rs I don't believe they are available for 17 inch wheels any longer.
The 71Rs are supposed to be great tires but they're still pretty new (one would hope they are as good or better than the RE11s).

Also heard good things about the SO4s (I had SO2s ten or so years ago that I liked) ... but the RE-11s are the best street tires I've ever been on.

That is indeed becoming a big concern, finding 17 inch tires in the correct size. I currently have Toyo Proxes T1 Sport, but would like to replace them by Michelin Super sports... only they don't come in the correct size... Guess I will have to pick Continental Sport Contact 5...

I've been VERY pleased with the General G-Max.

https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires...omCompare1=yes

I know they aren't the go to brand but for a tire to cruise around on and have some aggressive driving occasionally, they are awesome. They wear very well and stay relatively quiet as they wear.

I have them for my 'driver' tires on the 968 and I have a set on a BMW 330 ZHP.

Tire Rack suggested these for street and track days. We beat on a set for two days with excellent results. TR said they used them internally for track days.
