Just got back from Amelia Island
A great time at Amelia Island this past week. I saw the auctions, the werks reunion, the cars and coffee event, many great cars, 968s, and friends.
There were 7 968s including Mel's SY cab #4 which I was able to see in person. We hung out with Cliff and his wife Kim and talked Porsches. Great area, great weather. I recommend checking it out someday.

Yes it was an awesome time. And 2 of the 11 Chestnut interior cars were there.
The only issue was juggling Saturday. A weather threat prompted the planners to move the Concours up a day to Saturday. This turned out to be a wise move, but 300 + cars in the Concours competition combined with the hundreds in the Cars and Coffee (which was already scheduled for Saturday) made for a looooong day and less time to appreciate each car.
For those interested, I think the 968 was the model with the least representation. One was parked outside the show (for sale), 5 were in the Coral parking and Mel's SY Cab was the only car in the competition. I think that we should attempt to improve those numbers next year. This was the first Werk's reunion at Amelia, but it is suppose to be an annual event.
I'm so fortunate that Amelia, Hilton Head Concours, Kiawah Island Motoring Festival and Charlotte Auto Fair are all such short drives for me. It makes it easy to attend them annually. Next stop - Pebble Beach

I too enjoyed the events worked as a judge at Werks on Friday some really amazing cars on the grass. There were very few 968s that I could find think I saw one of my previously owned 968 coupes, not sure. I brought my paint to sample orange 996 coupe and parked in corral. On Saturday the combination of events meant a lot of steps on my Fitbit but all worth it even got to hang and talk to Hobbs for a minute,

I saw you Rich, or should I say you and your unusual 996, driving out when we came in around 2pm. I did not know you owned that car. I was offered it years ago. it is an amazing machine. I love the outside color but it is that interior that puts it over the edge, Green, right!!

And sorry Jeff that we didn't connect either Friday at WERKS or Sat. at C&C at the Concours. My Corral Chair duties of ensuring we got the 507 registered cars properly parked for the Corral kept me hopping most of Friday at WERKS, so I didn't get much time up in the Judged area. All of the volunteers made WERKS a great success. I know national PCA was pleased with how things turned out & are already planning for next year's event.
But several people told me you were looking for me, & I saw you from a distance by my 968, but when I made it over, I couldn't find you! Then on Sat. I only had a brief time in the early morning at Cars & Coffee with my car, before I had to head to the Concours for my Class Host duties. I am glad we were able to speak on the phone that afternoon.
The weather was perfect, & it was a satisfying three days, but I do miss the times of just getting to walk around, look at the cars, & talk to the owners about them!
