Follow up here, before/after. I used DupliColor Engine Enamel in Aluminum color.
It's almost a little too blingy-bright but it looks pretty decent in the car.
3 of 4 spark plug holes had oil in them so I'm glad I got the gasket set that included the big grommets for those and the bolts too.
Nice. I had mine off to replace the variocam unit and ramps recently. I bought a new cam cover gasket, grommets and spark plug tube seals but then got delayed by a crumbled Hall sensor connector. The cam cover needs to come off to replace the Hall sensor so I ended up taping up the old one and putting the old gaskets back in to get the car back on the road in the meantime and I'll replace everything when I do that job.
I ordered a cheapo ($8) Volvo crank sensor with the correct connector to cut off and put onto my Hall sensor to sort that out. It'll be good to take a gander at the new-used variocam unit and ramps again anyway. Also I think I will also replace the fuel lines and the fuel filter then also. I might paint my covers as well, that looks nice.
I use non-hardening gasket sealer on those corners.
