Default Help with math

Why is it that the 968 front end adds $900,000 to a 965 but only $10,000 to a 944?

It's a beautiful flat nose turbo for sure!

I remember when those cars cost ~$100k about 15 yrs ago and I saw a red one in person but never liked it much. Personally, I think it has one of the ugliest front ends that Porsche ever slapped on a car! It's so oddly shaped and the front bumper sticks out way too far, clearly an afterthought and nowhere near proportional and beautiful like a 968 front bumper [which probably wouldn't work on a 964 anyway]. Besides possibly the headlights, there aren't any 968 parts on it.

Splitting hairs here. 965 is actually an incorrect name for the car. Yes, it has "965" numbered parts on it that are unique to 964 turbos, but that doesn't make them 965s.

B&B did it way earlier, inspired by the 928 of course and executed in, well, the eighties. It's no doubt where Werk 1 got their inspiration, especially during an era of design cross-polination.

Fun fact: Japanese market 964 Turbo Slantnose/Flachbaus had conventional pop-up lamps carried over from the previous flachbau. Forget why.

there is a long nose Buchmann brothers car here that was used in some German cannonball type movie that was on display at a Guinness museum.

its been in storage for about ten years now. I offered to redo the pulled studs for free but its not happening. I took it on a few pelican fun runs in the 90s and late night sprints on I-40 at the TN/NC line. it pegged out at 155 with the four speed...super stable as long as you didn't lift.

Sorry, I have no idea where that picture is taken. I ripped it from the interwebz. ( www.conceptcarz.com )

But, here is another picture of the same spot. Doesn't seem to show the location any better, but maybe you recognize something?

As for if it is a clone, no idea. It could be (considering it is LHD). Regardless, the Japanese-market 964 Turbo Flachbau apparently looked like that: including the rockers and rear slats. I don't know why they didn't use the standard 964 Turbo S rockers and fender scoop; maybe they had a few early slantnose parts they needed to move.

Thx! For sure Ocean Avenue, Carmel. Not exactly a bad place to have a car show. Had mucho Porsches parked there during the 91 Monterey Parade. Also, that second shot is in the same block as the place I first saw the 57 Speedster that I eventually bought and had for 30 years.
