Default Can dings from bumper be removed?

I am afraid I have a bit of bad news to share!

As I was driving home tonight I was in the fast lane on the freeway and right smack in the middle of the lane was a half broken round plastic trash bin (like the Rubbermaid type). Needless to say I couldn't swerve into the lane to the right to avoid it so I had to run right into it!

Luckily (and to my amazement) the damage is very minor!

At least I positioned the car in the middle of the darn thing so the fog lights (which are brand new) did not get hit. The good part is the paint held up well and all in all is fine (no cracks in the bumper or tears). The only down side is that the bumper has a fresh ding (minor but annoying and slightly noticeable) just above the plastic mesh grills in the flat convex area.

Does anyone know if these bumpers can be repaired so that the ding be removed?

It's not a very big ding and I had heard once that these bumpers if they are polyurethane (don't know if this is true or the case) can be heated up and worked with a little bit. Not sure if any plastic bondo can be added to these bumpers either but just wanted to pose the question and see what can be done if anything.

I don't even want to try to go the route of buying a new bumper cover as I am sure that will cost a lot!

Thank you ahead of time for the help!

Best,

My body guy was able to undo damage to a plastic body panel by just letting it sit in the hot sun for a while, so give it a try...

There are urethane fillers which are used to repair the plastic covers. It's pretty easy too.
