Default Front control arms- I need the lowdown

I need the lowdown, again (I used to know this stuff): my RF control arm and tierod are shot. New from Germany for the arm, very expensive, 3 weeks from Sunset. It's on order, but isn't there some kind of mod which lets one use late 944 control arms on our cars? I just can't recall it.

Any help appreciated.

Just went through this myself.

The 968 control arms need to be machined to accept user-replaceable ball joints...

Call up Eagle Day in Florida - you'll have a rebuilt control arm by Monday or Tuesday. They blast it and re-powdercoat it as well - so it looks nice and clean.
They're $200 (plus $150 core deposit) + ~$22 shipping and comes with a 40 month warranty. Inevitably, all ball joints fail at 41 months

Vertex Auto also offers a rebuilt control arm ($235) - although not sure if theirs comes with a warranty. I know a lot of people on here have used them though.

To fully answer your question, late 944 / 951 aluminum control arms are rebuildable (kits are available from Rennbay and others) and bolt on directly, however they don't have the little tabs for the lower 968 brake cooling scoops, if you still have those.

You can make a bracket from some flat aluminum and a couple of bolts to hold the lower brake scoops.
