Rebuilt CV axle vs GKN CV joint kit?
I've got a clicking CV joint, got to do something about it. Is it better to get an entire rebuilt CV axle or install the GKN CV joint/boot kit on the existing axle (951-332-901-00)? Would I need a machine shop or anything special to change the CV joint on the axle, or just normal shop tools? I've never taken apart an axle, just remove and replace. If it's better to get a rebuild, who is the best source?
Thanks guys.
Thanks guys.

Josh, you might check out Lindsey Racing's website. They seem to have all kinds of CV stuff. I got my CV boots and grease from them. I haven't specifically looked, but they have a technical section that may have some useful info on that subject.

I checked it out, they have the same CV joint kit and the same brand new Porsche axles as Pelican, only at higher prices. No rebuilt axles and I wasn't able to find any information.

i believe I changed the left inside CV joint several years ago on my race car and it has been good ever since. It's messy but not too difficult.

Hi JDS, The Part 1 of 2 Parts link below will walk you thru a CV Joint rebuild. It is on a 914 but the same principle. The Gent has some great DIY videos that also relate to the 968.
