Default Rear wheel offset. ET40 fit on 968?

Will a rear offset of et 40 work on a 968? With rolled quarters maybe?

No simple answer here hot-j. If you are talking about using an 8 inch wide wheel then 40 might be fine - but I suspect you're not. And the answer cannot just be spit out because it depends on a combination of variables consisting of:

Which wheel and tire you choose
How much negative camber you plan to run
Vehicle ride height
Suspension travel
How far you intend to roll those quarters

Perhaps someone here has accomplished this and can comment more

Plan would be 10 inch wheel, rolled fender, 265 tire, 1.5-1.75 neg camber, ride height.... Low, but not too low. Tire top tucked 1/8th inch below fender

I am presently running:

18 x 10 ET 62
265 / 35 P Zero
1.5 neg
ROW height

If I were to change ET by 22mm (almost 9/10s of an inch) a fender roll would be mandatory. Be warned - a friend of mine rolled his using one of the popular aftermarket devices and cracked a lot of paint. My son and I rolled one of our Nissan 240SXs easily with no paint damage but the rigidity built into our wheel well arch makes the task more difficult and can crack paint.

+ 1 on the above and thanx Donn - I meant to attach that link to my response. I used it extensively when making my wheel choice.

Et 40 will be really tuff. An et 65 with 285/35-18 tires will rub under full compression. 265/35 is fine. Factory turbo s wheels are et61

Correct on rear ET for the (very few) factory turbo cars but those wheels are 11 inches - at least the turbo RS were - I'm assuming turbo S was also

And that was an 11" wide wheel (ET61)... And we are all assuming that Porsche didn't change anything in the rear inner well to accommodate the 11" wheel...

OEM 968 Turbo S Wheels.

Front: 8J X 18 ET 52 part number 965.362.136.01
Rear: 10J X 18 ET 61 part number 965.362.140.01

OEM Tire size,

Front: 235/40-18
Rear: 265/35-18

My hollow spokes were the same size front, 10J X 18 ET 65 Rear wheels. I ran two different size tires in the rear. 285/35-18 which would rub under full compression. Swapped to 265/35-18 R Compound's.

AH - yes - dummy me. Turbo S had 8 inch front and 10 inch rears. Turbo RS had 10 inch fronts and 11 inch rears. I own the a set of the SLs you mentioned (but the 00 versions - not the 01 - standard finish vs polished if I remember correctly).

Seems like I could have remembered that.......
