Default Anyone refinished clearcoated wheels?

Hey all,

Got a set of 8 spoke RHs that the centers are painted and the halves are polished alum. To my suprise they are one piece.. thought I could remove the centers and strip or sand the halves, then polish and recoat. The Clear is peeling prety bad. I'm looking for advice, they were too expensive to replace and want to refinish. The centers are not so bad but the halves (or I guess in my case whole) outer ring is peeling and hazed..

Ideas?

Cheers, Mike

Default Wheel refinish

Hello .
use the same process as painting a car , A high quality clear should be used, I use paint remover to remove the clear, then polish the lips, clean and prep the polished surface ( body prep grease remover) use light coats with a medium hardner , so the clear flashes slowly.

It well worth the effort ..Or just leave the lips polished

I used an Eastwood product several years ago that is NLA. It worked very well. This one has some negative feedback, but Eastwood dies seem to stand behind their products. http://www.eastwood.com/review/product/list/id/4665/

I've been thinking about getting my rim's repainted too. The white is starting to yellow around the edges
