Then I went back to the saddler, put the leather and the door cards on his work bench and asked him if he could finish it before christmas. He did, so I installed my christmas present yesterday.

Ordered rebuilt Bosch starter today; she had to sit in the rain for a day =(
Once I get down there, it looks like I might also be rebuilding a starter harness this Winter??? =/
I'm also still shopping for a decent front splitter upgrade... also missing my batwing...
AIR - maybe no longer stock or perhaps made-to-order:
https://www.americaninternationalrac...68944-924/968/
eBay - maybe a bit expensive (pictures 4 and 5 are what I'm searching for):
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Porsche-968...-/351526087082
As I progress, I'll post pictures too - including the rear hatch that is stuck... at least I got a great deal!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I've been considering Turbo Twist wheels... I have a feeling I won't find them with the actual correct offsets for the 968, so these should work with spacers, correct?
17x7&9: (similar offset)
https://ebay.us/M7Umzq
17x7.5&9: much less offset (bigger spacers?)
https://ebay.us/nnmNjR
https://ebay.us/UdIJCn
All the best in the coming new year everyone!

While not today, I have been SLOWLY detailing the engine bays of my coupe and cab. Also removing and cleaning/refinishing/replacing parts that need it. During this process I found some interesting (at least to me) differences in parts.
Cab is an October '91 build
Coupe is a late '94
I'll start with the front bumper rails. I removed both cars rails to clean them as well as the portion of the bumpers below the rails. The screws holding the rail in place are black when new (I purchased new screws from Porsche). They are not painted but look anodized, which look great when new but can corrode and rust over time, which was the case on some of the screws on both cars. Then I cleaned the bumper covers and noticed the coupe had u-shaped bumper shims on top of the speed nut the screws tap into to hold the rail in place. The cab had two different sized spacer type rings. The larger spacer fits perfectly inside the hole in the bumper and on top of the speed nut.
Above are the cleaned bumper rails.
The bottom rail is the '94. Top rail is the '92. Above the '92 rail are the two spacers for the '92. The small spacer is exactly the same size as the one attached to the '94.
It looks like the two rails are different color. They are the same color, it's just light reflection.
In PET I see the same part number for both years: 944.505.143.00. No shims or spacers are shown.
The "cooling water socket":944.104.312.03. PET (the version I have) shows a picture of what looks the '92 version on the page when looking up the part number. However, on the coolant hose section shows what looks like the later version. See below:
Water housing on '92. Notice the short hose that smaller hose fits into. Vent/purge bolt is under fuel rail cover pointing towards head
Not sure if there is a rigid sleeve inside the smaller hose. I guess I will find out soon.
Above is the '94 housing.
The last part is no longer available for either car. It's the hood "filler" 944.511.485.00:
Above is the "filler" on the '92. It sits on the fender above the firewall gasket
Above is the '94 "filler".

I installed Elephant Racing monoballs in the trailing arms. It was really easy to do. My trailing arm were already out of the car for another reason, so super easy at this point.
One old bushing (4 pieces) and one new monoball:
Her'e s
Here's an arm with an old bushing:
And here's the arm all cleaned up and with the new monoball installed.

installed the transmission
Today a friend and I installed the G44 Transmission. This has been rebuilt for the track by Bill Rader with new synchros, new bearings, and a Guards Club LSD. It's attached to a rebuilt Torque Tube from a 944 (covered in another thread).
We remembered to put in 5.9 pints of 75-90LS gear oil!
everything is sooo clean!
Next up is installing poly/bronze bushing on the rear spring plates and the put the rear end back into the car.

Today I did a speaker upgrade. I swapped the JBL Stage 502 for my new Dayton Audio ND140-8 Aluminium Cone Midbass Speakers. Saved around 0.86 lb and improved the sound outstanding. Finally there comes something like bass out of the doors.
Dayton Audio ND140-8 5-1/4" Aluminum Cone Midbass Woofer in the 968 speakerframe
Speakers weight comparison in grams, steel vs. aluminium.
