Front brakes on a 94'

Front brakes on a 94'
I just put new rotors and pads on my wife's 968. Took the car for a drive and the brakes seem to be dragging on the rotors, is this to be expected being that the pads and rotors are now a bit thicker in material? If so, how long before it feels normal again? Other than the dragging issue all else feels fine. Thanks.

check the pads, they come in 17 mm thick for the front and 19 mm for the rear.
as the discs are thinner in the back,
i could be that you put rr type in the front.2mm on either side could be the difference in clearance.
The wshers are for the rr only.

As a follow up when I ordered the brake pads I ordered the set without the clubsport option as I have a stock 94' 968. When I went back and checked the box for the second set of pads I noticed that the box has Porsche Genuine Parts on it and the part # I ordered however, the pad itself is marked Textar T400 FF with a different part # on the backing plate than that which is on the box . The part I ordered was #964-351-939-03-OEM which was the # on the box and the pads are marked #964-351-930-03. In addition when I went back on the pelican site and entered the part # I found on the pads nothing came up with that #. Hmm. Sydneyman did you order the pads with or without the Clubsport option?

Called Pelican tech support and was told by them that the pads for the front and rear are the same. For those that have done this job before, is this correct? Also, when I installed the new pads they had to be persuaded into position they did not just slide in.

The brakes should not be dragging, you may possibly have a stuck caliper that needs to be cleaned and have the seals replaced.
Did you bed the pads properly?

+1 on possible a stuck piston or caliper.

I used the backing plate from the old pads and a c-clamp to push back the pistons into the caliper. As far as the bedding goes, I only drove the car for about a mile due to the dragging and parked it. I ordered a different set of pads from Pelican to see if that makes a difference. They just arrived and I compared them to the first set but to my eyes I don't really see a difference visually. I am going to swap them out tomorrow and see what happens. Can someone tell me what the thickness should be on a new front rotor? Thanks for the responses.

Should be stamped on the rotors otherwise the tech spec book lists the standard front rotors as 26mm wear limit and the M030 as 30mm. Another reason why the calipers are dragging could be caused by old rubber brake lines. Over the years the insides of these rubber lines tend to swell shut from age and brake fluid. You can apply the brakes but they will not release or drag. Worth checking out.

Does anyone know of a good source for the brake caliper rebuild kits besides Pelican as they do not have any. Also are the pad retainers available at all, I have not been able to find them and I believe that is my problem with the new pads and rotors because I was not able to remove the old pads without removing the calipers and prying the pads out. Equally the new pads would not go in I had to persuade them which I know is not the way it is supposed to go.
