Default Small electrical gremlin

Both my interior light and the light in the trunk are always ON, regardless of the switch being in the ON or DOOR position (I can switch it OFF). When I close the door/trunk the light stays on. Anyone got any idea where to start looking for the problem?

Check the contact swich in your door if it does push in & retract freely.

the contact switch for the rear trunk light is on the passenger side hood strut.

Take out the light and make sure the wires are plugged in right. I think one side should have the brown wires and the other side should have the brown/white wire. If there is one brown wire on each side, then that means both switch positions will always be grounded, presenting the problem you describe.

Just a thought, anyways. Good luck!

I finally fixed all the small electrical problems. For the interior light I had to replace both door contacts (in the process I learned that the driver side one has two wires, while the passenger side only has one. I hunted for the second wire forever, until I looked at the wiring diagram...). The trunk compartment light was fixed when I replaced the struts, and the engine bay light (wouldn't shut off) fixed itself in the process.
