Help. Oil levels fine, oil pressure fine, all fluids fine. Nothing on the floor of the garage? Temps run fine, but each time I get on the gas a bit, I get a burning smell coming out of the AC vents. Its disconcerting. Anyone have any thoughts. All new belts and seals as well. Oh, yeah...and no clutch slippage.

Yeah, but mine does it even when not WOT. Then, like you said, it goes away almost immediately. Other than that, she drives great with no issues?

What kind of burning smell? Rubber? Clutch? Belt? Paper? Oil?
My first guess would be serpentine belt slip. After that maybe a hose getting abraded by a belt or sprocket.

That's what's weird. I can't really place it. It's not rubber, and frankly I have never had a clutch burn out on me, so....I am not sure there. I smells more engine or machine like than rubber, belts, etc. I was paying extra attention to the clutch today, but besides it getting close to the top its all good.

I was thinking alternator/AC belt slip as well. Try this: Park the car and let it idle. With the A/C switch off, turn the fan to "4". Then press the A/C button. If the belt is not tensioned properly, your voltage should drop, you should get the smell, and you might hear the belt squealing.

Slipping belt smells like a vacuum cleaner or sewing machine... kind of a machine smell. The 944/968 suffers a bit from poor belt wrap around the alternator so it frequently slips if not quite tight. This is usually noticed at startup, it might squeal a bit and then quiet down when it warms up.
There is a kit from 928 Motorsports that adds an idler between the alternator and AC pump that helps a bit.

No vacuum cleaner smell. Mostly like burned oil. I was considering the fact that it was a small leak getting burned off. Just seems weird that I wouldn't see anything, or smell it at any other time. I am going to try the AC recommendation just to rule it out.
