Ok here are some 968 typical wheels I have found

16" Found on C2/C4 and 968

17" 964 Turbo Wheel from '91

Standard 17" 993 Wheel. Also found on some 968

Supposedly another 993 Wheel.. Never seen it before though

Wheel seen on 968 Turbo S Street car

Hope thise helps figure which wheel Adrian is looking for.

Just remember the 968 wheels are usually wider in the front than the rear engined models, as they have more weight in the front to support. (IE my front wheels are 7.5", where the 993 wheel is 7"). Other than that they look identical.

Thanks for the pictures, M758!

To line up the pictures with my previous post. The first 3 pictures in your sequence are the same 3 types fitted to the 968. Your first picture is the standard 16" (part number starting "944..."), your second picture is the M030/M403 optional (standard on CS) 17" style wheel for '92 and '93 model years (part number starting "965...") and your third picture is the M398 optional 17" wheel for '94 and '95 model years (part number starting "993...").

cheers

Mike:

If your dad's car has the correct '94 model year wheels, they are the 993 style (also part number starting "993..."). I think Adrian is looking for the earlier ('92/'93) "965...." style wheels.

Although my new car has the 965 style wheels, I much prefer the later 993 style! My earlier 968 had replica 18" versions and they looked fabulous:

http://hobbystage.net/porsche/media.cgi?site=drh968&folder=*&id=1038330363-003580

I will probably change my new car to the 993 style, although I am a bit worried that the 18" versions, coupled with the M030 option suspension, will be a bit too harsh on the street.

cheers

Derek

Dear Derek,
I look forward to seeing the photos of your wheels. The list of photos is quite correct. The last wheels are 16 inch early 993 wheels. How do I know, cause I have a set of them and they are about to be installed because it will soon snow. The wheel design I am after is the 1991 964 Turbo design which were offered on the 968. These are Design 92s. I also have a set of these installed on my C4 right now. 965 part numbers.
Ciao,
Adrian

Hello Adrian,

I have a '95 968 with the M030 option and the 17" wheels; they are 7.5" X 17 and 9" X 17" I think.

Unfortunately, those wheels are not on the car at the moment as I switched over to the 18" hollow spokes.

I can take a photo of just the 17" wheel if you would like...I don't know if you want it on the car, though?

As it's snowing pretty hard out here in NY right now, it wouldn't be my first choice of things to do...but for the sake of your book....

Let me know if you can't get any other photo and I'll see what I can do for you.

Regards,

Jason Judd

Adrian,

I just uploaded some pictures of my car, taken today. Unfortunately, as you can see, the weather is not so good here in Sweden! I washed the car just before taking the pictures but it was freezing up straight away! The light was not too good either, and tomorrow's forecast is no better!

You may want to see if someone else can provide you with better quality pictures, since it could be a while before the weekend weather here is good enough for me to get significantly better photos. Anyway, take a look at these and see what you think. I have compressed them all for easy uploading/online viewing but I have 2400 x 1800 originals, approximately 1.7 Mb per picture, which I can email to you if you want. Just let me know the filenames of any particular pictures.

Here's the link to the pictures:

There is a new smaller pdf presentation of my book at www.adrianstreather.com under the page My books. This uses the new title page without artwork (The full version was supposed to have arrived this last friday but it did not) and pages from the first part of the actual book.
Ciao,
Adrian

PS: Photos from four 968s will appear in my book. Derek, Richard, Frank and the factory shot I have. The factory shot is the lead photo on the acknowlegements page.
