Post 968 external ambient temp sender

I'm a 944 turbo owner looking to install the 968 ambient temp gauge in the place of the clock that sits next to the glove box in 944s.

Problem is, the sender is incorporated into the side view mirrors. Nice as the 968 units are, I haven't come to grips with the $300 price to upgrade my car to these mirrors. So I need an alternative source for temperature senders.

Obviously VDO sells senders (either through them or through BMW and Porsche stores, being the OEM supplier). Problem is, unless I buy the Porsche part, which might be tough to install anywhere but the side view mirror, I might get a sender that doesn't have the correct voltage/temp function.

Anyone have any information regarding this?

I bought a complete 968 mirror kit (for 944).This kit didn't include the sensors, only wires for sensors.
I suppose sensors are not included because 944 models does not have outside/inside temperature gauge.

Thanks for the feedback.

I just received my 944 turbo shop manual, and it has the data for the restance vs. temperature for the OEM sender. If anyone who has the 968 shop manual can check for this information for me, I'd appreciate it!
