Post What do you guys think about supercharged 968s?

I am very seriosly considering buying a Very Nice supercharged 968. The color is right, the extras are right and it's got about 70 more HP than stock.. I have to say I prefer a turbo, but I just love the 968's look and I love the interior of a 944t/968 over a 911 (964). It's a 6 speed (love that) and everything feels right.. but I just don't know about the whole supercharger thing. There's still room to grow (add intercooler and more boost) but... what do you guys think?

I'm coming from a stock 86 944 turbo.. Like the speed/accel/handling etc... and one more question, do stock 6-speed 968's have as much torque as a 944turbo?

You can find summaries of 924/944/968 road tests at the following link. It should give you an idea of their respective stock performance:

Yes, it is Tony's car... it sounds like the car I want. I know he is on here a lot an probably will read this, but that's ok. I just can't decide if, from coming from a 944 turbo car, i'll like the S/C rather than a turbo.. I know the boost is less, but the car still makes 270HP at the wheels.. nearly 100hp more than my 86 951.. plus it makes full boost so early..

Other concerns.. I plan to drive the car daily, but also am eager to get into some DE's and learn how to drive the car on the track. A few guys I was talking to have told me that getting into a modified car first would mean that I learn slower on the track since I would have to drive faster in order to reach the cars limit, so it'll be harder to learn. Otherwise, I really want a car that HAS been modified (done right) just because I guess I'm that kind of person... I'd rather it be [nearly] done up front in the cost, than have to pay for it later.

SANDOVOL.. I like your rims (if that 968 S is yours.. ) I think these are the same, or similar rims to what is on a silver car that I found pictures of at Hershey..

There are threads upon threads at 968.net about the pro's and con's on the Supercharger setup. Also Turbo vs. SC.

The rims are Kinesis they ar pretty rare Dan's wheel are RH's they are a great alternative to Speedlines that are twice the price.
