Post Nor Cal Dyno "might" Pizza Run

Ok its time for another Nor Cal "Great Danno" Pizza Run! This time the plan is to incorporate a dyno day into the the great pizza run.
Here is my thoughts,

Meet in Gilroy.

Drive twisty route. Make stops along the route to provide convenient locals for others to join in.

Arrive in Sonoma for lunch.

After lunch treck to The Racers Group (Daytona/LeMans fame) for shop tour/dyno runs/dyno tuning.

Bench race, chart comparisons, bragging rights, race cars, disband.

The Racers Group charges $95 per hour. Each participant on the dyno should allow 1/2 hour for pulls minumum.

Anyone interested, I will need a show of hands. The goal is to do this in 3 weeks, so a quick commitment is required in order to book a slot with The Racers Group.

To start, this will be an "OPEN" event, any enthusiasts car (944 participation is expected) up to the limit of time and The Racers Group capacity.

Confirmed Participants:

Danno
Bill
PorscheG96

The target day is for a Saturday (7/20?). The exact day is still a moving target. It all depends on the amount of cars and the availability of the Racers Group. The sooner people comit the sooner I can coordinate with The Racers Group. I think that I will make Monday 7/8 the cut-off day for RSVP's. I will schedule with The Racers Group for the amount of cars committed on 7/8.
Tuning is a possibility however it takes more time and we would not want anyone that came to dyno, to miss the opportunity. It will have to be coordinated, but possible.

The Dyno is not a required element, just an rsvp. We welcome all for the drive/lunch/shop tour.

The Day:

As I stated in a previous post, the target date is still in flux. I will close the dyno list on Monday 7/8 and schedule with The Racers Group. On Tuesday I will post the confirmed date.

The Route:

Next week I will look at the locations of all that have signed on. I will design a fun route that has stops convient for most to hook up with the caravan. It will start in Gilroy and end in Sonoma. I will post the route map.

Lunch:

I would entertain any recomendations for a good place to eat in the Sonoma area. Also if you would like to voice a preference (Steak/Mexican/Burgers/Chineese/Sushi) please do so (majority rules). If anyone has a problem with a specific type of food, please speak up. The goal here is to please as many as possible. If not I will decide (Hot and Sour salsa TAI vegie burgers with orange glaze) or Pizza (since it is a pizza run).

Count Em...16 of Weissach's finest....should be an impressive caravan!

Just spoke to the folks at The Racers Group. They have the capacity to and do luncheons at their facility. Given the amount of people that have raised their hands for this great event, I think doing lunch (pizza) at their shop would be a good idea. That way we would have more time for cars on the dyno and for the shop tour.

Bill, I know you guys have done this before, but. . .we organized one here in NY/NJ last month, and told the dyno shop we'd have at least ten guys paying for dyno time. Well, almost half bailed at the last minute. Next time we do it we'll have people make a credit card registration with the shop to ensure no last minute cancellations. Add to that your host providing lunch, and it would be a sad thing to have more than a couple noshows. Just a FYI, maybe you left coast guys are more reliable!

(I know the 968 guys will show!)

Damian,

Thanks for the tip. This will be the first dyno run that I will have coordinated. Armed with your tip, I will be sure to talk with The Racers Group to make sure I do not get stuck with no show dyno time. Thanks again.

As far as lunch is concerned, I would not expect The Racers Group to pay for that.

Bill
