Hose question.

Hose question.
While changing some bulbs in the rear I saw one small hose on each side of the car coming from the trunk latchs. One was connected. I do not know what they are. I was thinking they might be a drain for water? Anyway one is totally connected and it seems one broke off at the bottom. How important are these? Should I waste my time tring to fix and connect the one that broke off at the bottom? Thanks in advance. Great board.
