Was there a limited 968 Clubsport edition????
Has there been a special 968 CS edition of 160 available cars in 1993?
I have been offered a 1993 speedyellow Clubsport w/ M030 and a rollcage. The dealer claims that this was a special series issued by Porsche and limited to 160 cars.
Basicly the car has NO (!) equipment (no electric power stuff , no aircon, no airbag etc) , M030, Race seats, a Matter Rollcage painted yellow, ...etc.
I never heard about this special edition before...any ideas??? What were the VINs?

Dear Rainer,
Yes there was certainly a 968CS in the 1993 model year. What you describe appears to be the genuine article. I have the original road test carried out in October 1992.
I have a good friend who used to own one of these rather special machines. If you email me privately I can put you in touch with him. He regrets selling it. If you can get your hands on one for a good price then do it.
I would have to check the VINs. I do not think they were distinquishable. However what I recommend is that you get the VIN of this particluar machine and we can see if we can track it down for you,
Ciao,

Maybe I dind't put the question clear enough: Of course there has been a 968 CS - I already have owned one w/ M030 etc...that's no the point....
What I'm asking is:
Was there a "SPECIAL" 968 CS which was limited to 160 cars, and which carried a Matter roll cage, a fire distinguisher, a 6-point harness etc. .????

Ranier, the VIN number range for the 1993 Clubsport is WPOZZZ96ZPS815001-5856. If the car you're looking at is in this range, then it's a standard Clubsport. My guess is that this dealer is giving you a line, because I have never heard oa a special 160 cars prepared as you say. Sounds to me like he's trying to hand you a car that's been modified for racing under the pretext of it being original. Note that the Clubsport can have any number of factory options installed at delivery, but those things you mention aren't any of the factory options that I've seen! I might be wrong, but unless anyone else on this forum can give you actual VIN numbers for the 160 cars, I'd say forget what the dealer is saying.
