Yeah, you and me both. Especially because it's a wagon. But for what they cost (plus import), I think I'd rather buy/import a 968cs. I like my B4 sedan... it's a good compromise given what's available in the US but it's a bit slow. If given a choice between more power and a wagon chassis, it would be a tough choice.

That's one thing I love about 968s - it's not really a compromise. You get huge cargo space (for a Porsche), a fantastic chassis, powerful engine, 6-speed, big fuel tank, molded bumpers, aero mirrors, nice brakes... all standard! Oh yeah, and tons of cool colors.

Wagon chassis counts for a lot, that's half the reason the RS2 is so cool...it's a super-hot-rod family road trip car!

More than "for a Porsche"! How many 2-seat cars [pickups don't count] can carry as much as a 968? I can go to the track with my helmet bag, cooler, air compressor, jack, 2 jackstands, trackbox, folding chair, and four 17" Cup 1s with inflated Hoosiers, all crammed into the car, with room to spare (not a lot, though).

Gotta love this car

Get a VW Corrado. Buddy had one with a big supercharger pushing 21psi. It did not last long, but cool car. They are available in the U.S. I don't think they come in cool 968 colors, but that is a solveable hurdle.

Corrados came in some cool colors. But ike 968's, the cool colors are rare. Jasmin Yellow, some shade of Purple, ice violet, etc.

The majority sold seem to be black or green.

My brother has a Corrado. It's the very uncommon Black on Black. Corrados are beautiful cars, well above any other VW. It's just too bad they're built like any other VW.

I've seen a lot of VWs painted in Porsche colors. Here's a Riviera Blue Corrado:

The Audi RS2 is right at the VERY top of both mine and Beni's wish list

The Corrado has all the makings of a cool car...except driven rear wheels.

Somebody just needs to retrofit RWD (or AWD, whatever) into a Corrado, and THEN it will be badass.

Agreed. I'm sure it could be done though. The r32's drivetrain may work, unless I'm missing another slightly older vw/audi platform that used awd.

BTW how do you put the "origionally posted by xyz" before a quote? Have not figured it out yet.

Not really sure how you would set up an AWD Corrado, it's mechanically an A2 in the front (Golf/Jetta) but it's a B3 in the back (Passat). They had Synchro AWD Golf/Jetta and Passat models in those generations, which would be a much, MUCH easier system to graft into the Corrado than the computer-controlled Haldex 4Motion system, and more likely to fit.

Manually, just use "quote=ninefourfourt", but why not just use the "quote" button at the bottom of the post you want to quote?

A few people have created AWD Corrado's using Canadian Passat G60 Syncro's as donor cars.

There is a guy who also converted his into a midengine RWD.

despite being FWD, they are really fun & unique cars. The VR6 was rated at 178BHP which isnt much by todays standards, but @ 2800lbs...they are pretty quick.

Automobile magazine had an article 08/92 comparing the porsche 968 and Corrado SLC.

The VR6, even the lowly 12v they used back then, has excellent potential with turbocharging, too.
