help removing sunroof
I followed the owners manual directions: unlock rear by pressing rear of sunroof switch with ignition in 1st position, then unlatch the 2 side front latches, but I can't remove the sunroof, feels like it is stuck in the front middle.
What am I missing?
thanks

Can you push the back up freely? If so then the sunroof just slides off the front flap by first lifting the back of the roof panel and removing/sliding it toward the rear of the car.

After I unlock the back, it does push up freely. Does this mean it is not unlocked if it doesn't push up? I do hear a click after I push the back of the sunroof switch down with the ignition in position 1, so I assume the click means the rear of the sunroof unlocks.
I can open the rear of the sunroof, it does flip up, anyway to remove it or unlock it when the rear is in the raised position???

If it pushes up freely then its unlocked, if not its locked.
To remove it once its unlocked you need to push up on the top until its vertical then lift it straight up off the car (and the wind deflector). Installation goes the same. Place the top on the car in the vertical position making sure the wind deflector is in the space between the outter panel and the interior panel of the sunroof then tilt it towards the back of the car. Latch the front and use the sunroom button to lock the back.

Having owned two 944's and a 968 I disagree with the 'top must be vertical to remove or replace' thing. For example, when replacing it I just rest the top on the roof behind the folded-down windscreen, push the roof onto the windscreen and then down, and latch. Much much easier to manage that way. I would think that stresses on components using the vertical technique would wear them much faster.
