I'm sure you've seen/heard of it before. Someone takes a car, typically one listed on eBay or Autotrader, then starts listing it on CL all over the country. The ad usually says something like, "I HAVE to sell this car before my divorce is final in 2 days, so it must go!" or "I'm currently in the military and need to sell this car before I go overseas in 3 days...." Anyway, the point is to show that the seller is "motivated" and must sell the car quickly. From what I've researched, they typically try to get someone to send them either a western union money transfer or some form of paypal. It's usually a deposit on the car, and generally around 10% of the asking price. If they do that 5 times to 5 different people with one car, it's a pretty large amount of money.
