Default noob question, cam chain tensioner

So after inspecting this ladies 968 cab it needs belts, a clutch and I would think cam chain guides. The guides have never been replaced so is 100k miles too soon to replace them? I will do all the seals and chain as well.

As a side note, the clutch looks SOOOOO much easier than the 951 and I can do those in 1.5 days.

I think 100k is a good point for the average owner to have the pads changed. Many people even have experiences with the pads failing sooner than 100k. They will *probably* be ok for many more miles, but IMHO it just isn't worth chancing it, when it takes 3 hours and $100 to just do it.

Its a good idea to change the pads + chain at the same time, otherwise the cam sprokets wear out...Usually swap the pads etc at around 60-70000 miles...Porsche never recomended an interval, [they thought it was a "fit for life" part],,, thats why theres so many of the chains / cams failing at around 80-150000 miles...

As a guide, my 968 has just had a service at 94k miles. At 34k miles it lost a cam and had to be replaced, but at this, current service point, the chain showed no sign of stretch. Given they only cost £60-70 quid, I'd replace every 2 years just to be on the safe side.

The woman had all the service records for the car and there was nothing in there about the cam chain or pads. The car is 250 miles short of 100k so I think it would be smart. The belts were also done 35k miles ago and 6 years. Those will be replaced.
