Default 86' 951 Koni strut fitment on 968

Will the strut assembly from an 86' 951 fit on a 968? I checkd archives and could not find a definitive answer. Thanks!

I am looking for M474 koni's for my 968

The springs from the 951 are a wider diameter (narrower wheels) than the 968 springs, so the strut perch is different. You could buy 951 springs and use them. That said the 1986 951 is early offset, and I don't believe those struts work on late offset cars. You could use 1987 or later struts.

The M474 from a 944S2 will work with our springs and spindles, but are very hard to find.

I don't think so, but will be corrected if wrong. I just switched over my early car to late spindles and hubs on the front end. To do this I had to have new attachment points welded on my Leda's. Conversely, some people have machined down the mounts on the spindles to accommodate the narrower strut attachments.

I checked the pn 951 343 031 07 with Pelican and they list an ...06 part number that fits 2/95 -88' 951. Its the last 2 digits that concern me.

The struts I am considering have the purchs, springs, hats, etc. and are a complete assembly. I thought the 968 springs were conical vs cylidrical for the 951 but as long as I am getting the complete assembly I should be OK there. I don't want to risk them not fitting....and was hoping someone had first hand experience.

As an alternative, do you recommend the koni insert for my existing strut housings?

No, they won't fit without modification. In addition to what has already been mentioned, the bolt holes won't match up to the spindles.

Buy the late offset stuff, you'll be a lot happier.

Actually, they will bolt on without issue....the offset didn't have anything to do with the strut.
