Today was the review of the electronic beam gave its result .......

Bingo, found ....... 3 electric wire who were in the big sheath that leaves the Central Haltech had stripped parts and made contact intermittently

And this part of the beam corresponded to that which had been close to the sheet which had heated during the "loss" of the collar of the waste gate in July 2016 in Barcelona.

Once kept apart these wires, the workshop head went to do some laps in the corporate zone and there, the car walked like an airplane; responding to the quarter turn after voluntary stoppages throughout this test.

The beam is fully extended

and it will be repaired to allow me to finish the season on Magny-Cours and Le Paul Ricard at the end of the month .... Crossing the fingers anyway so that the power plant did not, "in hidden memory" a breakdown coming ...

The team of Castellet Car Motorsport does not let go ......... it works hard and a last bug has just been met and repaired on the cable connecting the PMH to the Haltech power station! The shield connected to ground, touching the + at a location in the sheath !!!!! And this morning 11am, the 968 roars and purrs at the mercy of the accelerator. On the program: reposition the beam of the plant (well lightened of 800gr of yarns that do not serve !!) and make a small tour in the Enterprise Zone ... then it will be the setting up of the car on its trailer ... and back home for a departure tomorrow morning 9am for Magny-Cours ..... I cross my fingers !!!

30 minutes of happiness !! The car worked perfectly, no small alert on any parameter whatsoever. The track was cold, and I left the Sport Cup2 of last year to make this first test run. Not ideal for snapping a time, especially since I had left the shocks in "hard" position as if I had racing slicks. Tomorrow, 8:30, qualifying on a cold and wet track !!! The car is on candles ready to receive the wheels equipped with "racing rain". Do not forget to relax the chassis as much as possible !!!
11 cars only at the start (some had forgotten to connect their transponder !!!)

Friday
A restless and short night !! A little stress because the rain is announced for the morning

Qualifying practice at 9h with a pre-grid at 8:35 am !! The car spent the night on candles to save time on the assembly of the wheels chosen!

The sky does not seem too threatening, banco for "slicks" ...

Well took me because everything happened without a drop of water on the track .... verdict: 2'02 "384 or 5 seconds less than yesterday! Not bad.

Saturday
2:20 p.m., pre-grid for the race 1..Ciel threatening, drops ...

choose the set of wheels equipped with Sport Cup that will serve as a "mixed". 10 minutes before the start, the rain doubles and the race direction allows a change of wheels in front of the pits (A boon for those who have taken a box!) General problems, and some remain in slicks ... Two warm-up laps behind the leading car and departure launched ... Track soaked, not the must for a turbo and his kicks .... and my 968 is the only supercharged! In short it rains, it stops, it spit ... etc .... throughout the race .... 3 heads and tail 40mn later the checkered is crossed .... 3rd out of 3 in GTC2 and the coupette to commemorate all that ...

Well returned home just after Race 2 Sunday 11:35. And a return with the banana because the 968 has still worked very well, even if the turbo manettino on the benchmark "skull" gave only 0.9 bars instead of the expected 1.2.
A best time of 2'00 "975 (2" less than qualifying!) And a 3rd place in GTC2. One point to improve for 2018 will be the time management in pit lane because I spent 2 ' 42 "instead of 2'30" minimum !!! In view of the general classification, I could have made the 7th place .....

To immortalize this last race of the final GT Classic 2017 ...............

A video of Race 1 Saturday ... to forget completely ... not the good tires, not the good settings of the chassis, not the good timing in the pit-lane (+ 25 seconds), and heads to tails. .... Fortunately the next day it was less catastrophic .....

As soon as Magny-Cours returned, the 968 joined its favorite mechanic for pre-running ritual check-control

In the program, resumption of tightening gimbals which fortunately are all secured with a wire-brake because half had "unlocked".

Resumption of the tightening of the linkage on the box. Because on Magny-Cours, I had missed several times 2/3 and 4/5

Drain engine and for this last exit, I will use the cans of Motul 15/50 that the car has won in Historic Tour !!!! We will see a little T ° compared to the usual Castrol 10/60.

And finally a good bleed braking as well as control of all suspension clamps.

Thursday 18h car loaded and direction the Castellet circuit located just 7 minutes from the garage!

Saturday morning 9:00, we left for 4 sessions of 30 minutes interspersed with the ritual races of the Porsche Club Motorsport. the 968 will be in series "yellow" called "Sport Cup" (But for this day, it will be the Yoko slicks that I will use ...... it will take me well in view of the big cubes recorded 991 GT3 / RS etc ...)

This session confirms me that the pressure of the turbo remains constant: 0.9 bar on the 3 positions of the manettino !!! We will do with ..............

3rd session, just at the moment of digestion !!! A little less people on the track and we will watch a little time. For this morning it was 2'37 "or 9" more than my record set in qualifying in April in the GT Classic (2'28 "825) but with a boost pressure of 1.15 bar (+ 30hp) and new slicks.

Still happiness to chain towers and towers without the slightest problem ....... a little less cars on the track and this 3rd session will see me doing a 2'34 "61 .... and finally 2'32 "09 during the 4th and last session !!! It's only 4 seconds off my record but with 30hp less. They have worked well on the car at Castellet Car Motorsport and this will allow us to start on a good base for the season 2018
