Historic Tour 2016- Le Mans -Race 1 GT Classic -Saturday
onboard camera aboard my 968 turbo RS. We finish 4th overall and 2nd of GTC3 despite a linkage box that was beginning to falter !!!!!

Race 2; on a wet track and greasy as possible !!! In "Sport Cup" tires and with a chassis adjusted for dry !!! In short, forget ......

Race 3 that capped off this fabulous GT Classic meeting in the Historic Tour Le Mans in 2016.
The race finally succeeds me, even without the 5th speed and even without good larger BBS rims 1 "which came up with the" Sport Cup ". Podium overall and 1st in GTC3 and my best lap in 1'58" 694

Well, it's not all babbling, have to work on the car so that it is OK for the final round of BRM Sport Cup Trophy 14/15 October. No panic because it will be 15 minutes from my home on the beautiful Castellet.

The car is on the candles (houses !!)



cleaned and brake pads deglaciated


Slicks passed to heat gun to remove any stuck rubber and gravel


And we are preparing to work on this wandering gear box control. And I realize that the seal exit left box leaking !!! Noted for the end of season review

We ordered the spi box seals and RdV CCM taken for repairs.






It will also change the gear selection mechanism on the gear box.





And pending work on the box, an inspection of the previous oil filter. "Open Box" XXL and examined the folds of the filter to detect any small metal filings that would indicate abrasions either in cylinders or connecting rod bearings . After having "peeled" and meticulously examined the filter, nothing to report.

Friday, October 7, going to CCM to solve the problems of leaking oil seal output for gearbox and small place in the control linkage of this box. Finally brake bleeding and clutch (which had never been done since buying the car !!!) The 968 had the honors to be examined her and treated by a mechanic of "Team Loeb Racing "who came lent a hand to CCM.




And fortunately they disassemble the universal joints for the wear cages was highest (both of Lindsey gimbal side than the other "standard") and were only waiting for the breaking !!!!!












When the linkage, already at the lever never (or not?) Circlips which should block the axis of the rod !!!!


Gimbals and the linkage mechanism arrive Monday ............ The 968 is in good hands and in good company with a neighbor as beautiful "Ferrari" waiting for his tailgate

Monday, October 10, J-4 before running sessions and qualifying !!!


The car is on its trailer, completed jobs.


The mechanic had to improvise and play the Dremel because of constant velocity joints 944 turbo delivered are much smaller than those currently in place. Just because the driveshaft is bigger, certainly the famous reinforced Lindsey Racing (or Turbo S even if we find it !!)


Few Minutes to turn the car on a lift for all the fat is well partition to the gimbals and detect possible leaks. Rebuilding handmade should allow the beads to slide well and Ricard racetrack is not very violent for transmissions. We'll cross our fingers !!! And avoid the curbs anyway. !!!




The new clips on the lever (nobody had noticed they were missing !!!) and compléte verification of the linkage seem to have solved the excessive lever travel, at least, that's what I could feel while driving to load the car on the trailer.


Two days to keep on the track and it will be winter rest with the program a nice job list to perform including the famous gimbals to find and change !!!!

The rain is not the appointment this Thursday night on the Castellet racetrack but the wind yes !!! And how hard !!! So no marquee installed, we will not take any risks. Tomorrow will be another day!!

Friday, October 14, the Castellet circuit was full of water ..... !! As is so that the first sessions will be on the small circuit. The western part is under several centimeters of water in the lower part (camp turn and the Sainte Baume turn)







. By late morning the big circuit is open but still quite a water My Dunlop rain enable me to enjoy myself without scare me.
Break 13h and rain begins to falter and the track begins to dry on the paths.
16h briefing for BRM Sport Cup challenge and makes the session before qualifying. I ride the Sport Cup who are struggling to heat because I left a little too low in pressure and shock absorbers remained settled "rain" The car is a little chamalow !!!
18h qualifications ... I have not touched the settings, we'll see. I had set to a time close to what I was doing with my GT3 .... it's done: 2'39 "367 to 2'39" 79 with the GT3.
As usual. I base line in leave tomorrow ....... They are good guys Motorsport !!!!


But the sun seems to drill !!!!

Focus on this Saturday, October 15 were held or two races BRM Sport Cup Trophy.
My time of 2'39 "367 to the tests put me in bottom line and the race went as planned. A great battle with the Porsche 3.0L Laurin who kept the advantage to 8 / 10th !! I finished 6th in Classic category with a time improved to 2'36 "799. Happy because I joined my time done with Marcos last year and was spraying my time done with the GT3 3 seconds !!!

2nd race at 15.30 !!! My objective will be twofold: to improve my time and finish ahead of the 944 Turbo Cup has changed driver.
Departure well negotiated and the laps, the 944 arrived in worn bumper !!! And the double right Beausset, I could do inside enjoying its too wide path. I could dig my lead until 21 seconds and finished in 4th Place (the 3rd was untouchable for more than 10 seconds) And by the way, I improve my time in 2'35 "260. Mission accomplished !!! !!

late season clap !!! car cleaned and under the duvet in his garage !!!! We will make purr every 15/20 days history to keep in shape.



The "parking" of the villa has returned to normal face. The carrier is under shelter, trailer wintered and that is the small car that will ensure a rolling max now ....................
