Default Convertible top Frame Needed...

My passanger side main support arm broke! My mechanic is telling me that it may be easier to find the whole frame and replace it. Does anyone know of a good place to get a good working used frame without breaking the bank. Any help would be greatly appreciated! :thumbup

Yea... but the one on eBay is 'local pickup' only in South Carolina:

I may be parting out the spare I have...the passenger B pillar is still good on mine.....let me know what you think is a fair price....also...be aware that some parts, I think the bows and header were changed on the earlier vert models...so you may not want to buy a 944 top...but a 968 top to be sure.

Wink 968 more reliable than 928

I have had my top upright welded and it appears to be working fine. It is not cheep but having it done when the new top was installed worked out fine and added a resonable charge to the job. If you can get a good top frame complete for $250 there is money to be saved - but I cound not find one for less than $1000 at the time I was looking. Bid up to that level twice on E-bay and lost each time. If you get it for that much and have extra right side rubber gaskets I may be interested - send me a PM.

The same thing happen to me on my cab- I welded it up only to have the weld break 2 months later. The pot metal alum is not the best for welding. I searched everywhere and bought the only one I could find from 20th street in Phoenix. what a pain. I woudl not recommend trying to weld it if you can avoid it. Or at least place the top in manual mode after installation. I would not want anyone else going through what I did in a 2 time removal. I have gotten good at it though. I paid $250 for the arm alone, I know top mechs are going for $1K and complete assys with good tops are going upwards towards $2K plus... If the structure is in good shape a recover is cheaper, or at least the same. I have a complete assy with a great top for sale if you are interested off my parts cab... PM me, Cheers, Mike

BTW- I am in SC working this month- need a fellow lister to pick it up and ship it out to you? I will be driving north through most of the state going home to Va around the Nov15th if it is north of me. I am in Cleamson near the Anderson- Greenville area now ... just a thought- I'd be happy to help.
