Default Turbo a 968

Recently my 951 was hit by another driver, and their ins company is totaling the car. Once we setlle on a price im thinkin about, buying back my 951, and turbocharging a 968. Would I need a whole lot more than the top end/intercooler/radiator, of my 951 to do this?

Wouldnt the 2.5 turbo head work fine? What would be the advantage of the 2.7 head?

The 2.5 head will work but it will need a customized front water passage. The 2.7 head has the advantages of already being the right shape to bolt on, and it has larger intake valves, and it doesn't have the dumbass exhaust port ceramic lining. It won't be too hard to make the 3.0 turbo. Use all your 951 parts (computers, TT, bellhousing, head, tubes, etc etc) do you want to use stock pistons or special turbo pistons?

Consider dropping your whole 951 engine, TT, and computers into the 968. THE fastest, simplest, and cheapest way, and you know the 951 motor can easily make up for the .5 liters. And you can sell the 16v motor on the side and make almost all your money back! Or more!

Hmmm, those are some great ideas. Im leaning more and more towards getting a 968 when we settle. Then swapping out what i need. 3.0 block, with 2.7 head and the rest of my 951 stuff, sounds the coolest. The only thing I would really need to buy, is the 2.7 head right? Well Id prolly wanna go with turbo pistons. So 2.7 head, and pistons. I could sell my 951 head and bottom end/968 top end, to absorb the financial impact. What kind of specs could I look to get from a setup like this? Id be looking for a reliable daily driver. How much boost could it handle? Another thought is a bigger turbo, of course ill prolly need injectors, etc. Still not exactly overly expensive. Im thinking I could part out all my extra 951 parts to cover most if not all expenses. Is this realistic?

Keeping the 6 speed tranny would be nice too.
