Yes the OEM RS america belts are the way to go, they arent bad brand new from Sunset and they fit perfect the webbing is a better looking pattern as well! Those 968 CS steering wheels brand new from sunset are only $380! All you have to do is install a resistor and use a non airbag 85 1/2 and later horn contact!

Do you remember a ballpark of what the belts were new? Also they bolt right in no problem?

Six months ago new they were $400 from Sunset but they might be cheaper now! They do bolt right in and fit the 968 latches perfect!

Shoot, looks like I missed a good outing. Does Jerry Woods have get togethers often? Oh, and I'd love to know how you deal with smog...

Take the test pipe out, install the cat, switch the FQS switch on the computer a couple clicks and then go down and smogg it? Its not really too hard its not like its some crazy rich gross poluter its a highly tuned Porsche come on!

Don't they notice the turbo, etc., during the "visual" portion of the test?

Yes they fit fine, Porsche is a small company all the parts fit except maybe a 911 engine under the back of a 944! That would be interesting NO!

Thats cool about the RSA belts, didnt know that. I was the one that had my OEM belts rewebbed red...saved a little bit of money it sounds like (that doesnt happen often.)

Actually I found out that RSA belts are not a direct swap for a 944. Porsche switched their seat belt buckles and also the seat belts somewhere around the time of the 964 and 968. The cage around the retracting mechanism on the back has slightly different mounting position then the 944's do. The 968 went along with these changes and has the 964... part number buckles and belts, opposed to the 928... # buckles on the 944.

So on the 944 for the RS belts to mount properly you would just need to drill the correct size hole right next to the other hole in order for the stud to stick into the car? Correct? Seems pretty easy and I cant imagine it would weaken the strength of the belts mounting in a real world crash!

You might be able to do that, but I think the holes are so close that you might end up drilling into the other hole making a mess. So then instead of having two clean holes, you would end up with one large hole which would cause the ratcheting mechanism to wobble around some.

There are other ways to get the hole in the right spot just cant use a drill, like a commercial punch or die grinder! Or you can rewebb! Just depends on what the individuals needs & wants are!
