Hello all,

As the title suggests on a recent track outing towards the end of the day my 968 kept popping out of second. Usually on lift off of throttle but not exclusively. Prior to this i had noticed second gear seemed to make the gear shift wiggle alot when selected ..

any thoughts

I would check the linkage first on top of the tranny just to hope to get lucky. If no dice then the synchro's are worn. They pop out of gear on load changes when worn.

ok cheers for that ill take a look ... knowing my luck its expensive ....

I don’t think its the synchros. There function is to smoothly transition you into gear, not to hold the gear. I had the same prob w/ 4th. As it turns out, there’s a type of clamp/ring that stops the gears from walking fwd when under load. Mine was mangled and as my gears walked they brushed against the housing and 4th was damaged. Yes big $$$

If it turns out to be something small, you’re a luckier man then I was.
