OK, I thought I had the typical odometer gear issue, so I bought a replacement gear from Brett over at 968forums.com
Well I finally got around to replacing the gear this weekend, and the old one is perfectly fine. I can spin the assembly freely with either gear.
My odometer will work for a mile or two first thing in the morning, or when the weather is cold, then cuts out. When it does work it does not move smoothly, it 'clicks' through the gears. This leads me to believe that I have an electrical issue in the circuit board or the stepper motor which drives the odometer gears. My speedometer works fine, so I think it must be in the odometer circuits. Oh, and I can't find anything visually wrong like broken solders or frayed wires or anything.
Somebody else over at 968forums.com had the same problem I did and was an electrical engineer, but I don't think he has posted in a long time.
Any thoughts on my problems? Any way to replace only these circuits?
Thanks,
A
